Software Engineer | Future Priest
John Rommel B. Octavo (Jiro) is a Computer Science graduate of University of the Philippines Los Baños who specializes in mobile application development.
For fourteen years, from April 21, 2011 until 2025, Jiro faithfully served as an altar server, dedicating his youth to the service of the Church through the sacred liturgy. During the years 2025–2026, he entered formation as a Jesuit candidate, where he was missioned to serve in Miarayon, Talakag, Bukidnon as a teacher and formator at St. Therese School of Miarayon and Father Leoni Mission Foundation, Inc. These experiences deepened his understanding of service, formation, and accompaniment, especially among the youth and communities entrusted to his care.
Music has also been an important part of his life and ministry. He began serving in the music ministry as part of the children’s choir of Our Lady of Assumption Parish, Guinobatan, Albay, and later became part of the Lisieux Music Ministry at the Diocesan Shrine of St. Therese of Lisieux, Los Baños, Laguna during his college years. As a church musician himself, he experienced firsthand the difficulty of organizing and finding suitable song references for liturgical celebrations. From this experience arose the desire to create this application — a humble effort to assist choirs, musicians, altar servers, and ministry workers in serving the liturgy with greater ease and preparation.
Jiro dedicates this application with profound gratitude to the Jesuits who guided and formed him during his candidacy, and to the students and scholars whom he was blessed to teach and accompany in mission. Their lives, faith, and perseverance continue to inspire him to use his gifts in service of God and His people.
For those serving in mission areas or communities with limited resources who are in need of the application’s Pro features, he warmly invites them to reach out so that access may be granted freely whenever possible, especially for the service of ministry and evangelization.
Above all, Jiro humbly asks for prayers as he continues to discern God’s call in his life. Though he does not yet fully know where the Lord is leading him, he entrusts his vocation to God’s providence and hopes, in time, to faithfully answer the call to the priesthood wherever Christ may lead him.
